Q: What is the Configuration Generation Tool?
The Grandstream Configuration Generation Tool is a utility program that allows system administrator to generate device specific configuration files. Grandstream devices only accept configuration files generated by Grandstream Configuration Generation tool.

Q: What is the difference between the Configuration Generation Tool and GAPSLITE?
GAPSLITE comes with Grandstream NAT Friendly TFTP server whereas Free Configuration Generator Tool does not, it can be used for generating configuration files ONLY.

Q: Where can I download the Configuration Generation Tool?
The free Configuration Tool is available in Windows and Linux/Unix versions.  Click on the following link to download:  http://www.grandstream.com/support/tools

Q: Can I generate a general configuration file and use it for all of my devices?
No, each Grandstream device must have its own configuration file. It has the device identification burned in. This is a security measure to make sure the configuration file is really intended for the receiving device.

Q: How can I lock the end users from changing certain setup, such as SIP Account
information?
1. Turn on "Lock Keypad Update" (P88) to prevent users from doing a factory reset via IVR.
2. Change Admin password (P2) to prevent access to ADVANCED settings web UI.
3. Add a P1 value in configuration files so that devices only take configuration files with a matching password.

Please contact support for further details.
